Abstract

Dear Readers,

During the year 2017, publication of the journal issues progressed smoothly to restore the periodicity of the online Indian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences (IJPS) and the print issue periodicity will also be restored very soon. Any perturbation with the publication of a journal usually affects its periodicity leading to delayed issues and restoration of the periodicity would take a long time but I am glad that with the dedicated efforts from all the editorial and publication team members the journal's periodicity was restored quite rapidly. The JCR Impact factor of IJPS for the year 2016 is 0.66 and the SJR index for the same period is 0.333. The H-index of the journal stood at 43 and IJPS ranked first among all journals in the field of Pharmaceutical Sciences published in India, ranked 2nd in Asia and 46th in the world.

During the calendar year 2017, IJPS received a total of 1725 papers, out of which 547 articles were rejected in the preliminary screening while the rest were subjected to suitability evaluation for further processing. Among these, around 250 articles were sent to reviewers and each article is usually sent to 4-6 reviewers. In the 6 issues of Volume 79, published during the year 2017, a total of 129 articles were published (at an average of 21 articles per issue) of which 38% articles were by foreign authors. A total of 195 scientists from India and abroad reviewed the 129 articles published in volume 79. Average publication lag time of an article is 10-12 months, which is rather long. Efforts are in progress to increase the average number of articles published per issue to 25 and reduce the average publication lag time to less than 6 months.

I take this opportunity to acknowledge the contribution of Dr. Rao Vadlamudi during the final stage editing of articles published and the support rendered by Ms. Neha Gupta, editorial assistants Mr. K. Srinivas, Mr. B. Sandeep, Mr. Anudeep Balla, Dr. Manjunath P. Mudagal, Dr. Gurubasavaraja Swamy, Dr. Suresh Janadri, and Mr. Ganesh Andhale in bringing out issues of IJPS. I would also like to express my gratitude to all the authors, reviewers, the publisher, the advisory and the editorial board of IJPS, all the office bearers and the staff of IPA secretariat, for their support in bringing out yet another volume of IJPS and look forward to their unrelenting support to bring out the Volume 80 of IJPS in scheduled time.
