Several 4-acetamidonaphthalene sulphonylhydrazones and thiosemicarbazides have been prepared by reacting 4-acetamidonaphthalene sulphonylhydrazide with appropriate aldehydes and arylisothiocyanates respectively. A representative number of title compounds have been screened for fungi-toxicity against two species of fungai viz. Aspergillus niger and Aspergillus flavus and the results were compared with that of Dithane M-45, a commercial fungicide. The relationship between structure and activity is discussed.
