4-[4-(2-Phenylethenyl) phenyl] thiosemicarbazide(I), prepared from 4-(2-phenyl-ethenyl) aniline has been condensed with anisaldehyde to give 1-(4-methoxybenzylidene)-4-[4-(2-phenylethenyl) phenyl] thiosemicarbazide (II). I was cyclised by NaNO2/HCI to give 1,2,3,4-thiatriazole (III). It was further condensed with isatins to give 3-arythiosemi-carbazono-2-indolinones (IV).IV underwent Mannich reaction with morpholine and piperidine to give 1-morpholino/piperidinomethyl-3-arylthiosemicarbazono-2-indolinones(V) . Representative compounds were tested for antiinflammatory and CNS activities; all were mild CNS stimulants but none possessed antiinflammatory activity.
