The in vitro release characteristics of sodium salicylate from methacrylate polymers and their combinations were studied by comparing with polyethylene glycol (PEG) base. Combination of polymers were superior followed by individual polymers and PEG base least. The ointments were stable for a period of two months without any alteration in the release characteristics.
