Spectrophotometric Estimation Of Melatonin And Meloxicam Using Folin-Ciocalteu Reagent

A simple, accurate, rapid and sensitive method has been developed for the estimation of melatonin and meloxicam using Folin-Ciocalteu reagent in the presence of 20% sodium carbonate solution. The blue coloured chromogen formed is measured at wavelength of maximum absorption 700 nm against reagent blank. The chromogen obeyed linearity over 1.5 to 15 μg/ml for melatonin and 1.5 to 22.5 μg/ml for meloxicam.
