A simple ioscratic reverse phase method for the determination of 4-methoxy 8-pentyl-1-napthoic acid, methyl elcosanoate, acevaltrate, isovaleroxyhydroxydidrovaltrate and didrovaltrate in the rhizomes of Valeriana wallichii was developed and is described. The senstivity was found to be linear in the range of 0.2-5 ug. To the best of our knowledge this is the first HPLC report for the determination of napthoic acid derivative and methyl eicosanoate in this plant.
