Antimicrobial activity of various ring substituted betanitrostyrenes has been studied against Escherichia Coli, Staphylococcus aureus Candida albicans. Halogenated derivatives showed good activity. Correlation studies by regression analysis have shown that hydrophobicity and Van der waales volume influence the activity to significant extent against bacteria and not against C-albicans. Presence of serum albumin did not decrease the activity.
