In view of the potent analgesic antiinflammatory and antimicrobial activities exhibited by quinazolin- 4(3H)-ones, a series of novel 2-phenyl-3-(substitutedmethyl amino) quinazolin-4(3H)-ones have been synthesized. When these compounds were evaluated for analgesic, antiinflammatory and antibacterial activities, compounds I and II exhibited comparable analgesic activity, while the compounds II and Ill exhibited comparable antiinflammatory activity with the standard diclofenac sodium.
